Words matter, the meaning of words also matter. Barack Obama has forgotten one of life’s little lessons, “sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.” Well, Barack has a few problems with some words. I will not re-plow the field of his middle name, that’s been addressed by many already, all I will say is that can’t be blamed on a TWP, that was his father’s doing. My issue is that Barack H. Obama doesn’t want to be labeled a “Liberal”.
Apparently that “name” will certainly hurt him. So when faced with a problem like that what do Liberals do? They reach into their bag of tricks and pull out a new word: PROGRESSIVE, that sound much better. Here’s what BHO said recently:
Obama, in an interview, said that “a lot of these old labels don’t apply anymore.” He said he was a progressive and a pragmatist, eager to tackle the big issues like health care and convinced that the Democrats could rally independents and disaffected Republicans to their agenda. (International Herald Tribune)
So in order to keep current with the “progression” of the aforementioned Liberals, we need to change a few of the “old labels” to reflect the new Democrat lexicon. Let’s start with how we track the most Liberal, I mean “Progressive” Senators, the National Journal’s 2007 Voting Ratings. They said of, BHO:
Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., was the most liberal senator in 2007, according to National Journal’s 27th annual vote ratings. The insurgent presidential candidate shifted further to the left last year in the run-up to the primaries, after ranking as the 16th- and 10th-most-liberal during his first two years in the Senate. (NJ-online)
He’s not just “Progressive” his “Super Progressive” and he moved further to the left (can we still say left?, I better check my Liberal Decoder Ring and see is there is a new term for left) nope, they’re still using that word, I’m OK. The bottom line is this, whether you call him Liberal or Progressive he’s still not RIGHT.
